Frank Fowlie

Dr. Frank Fowlie has had a distinguished career as an Ombudsman and mediator. He is a tireless volunteer with many organization. He also assists provincial, national and international sports organizations in ethics, complaints and appeals, mediation, and governance. These roles include: four years as Commissioner with Athletics Canada; six years as a mediator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport; and 6 years on the Board of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. Frank supported Wrestling Canada Lutte as their Complaints and Appeals Officer. He is presently volunteering as a Harassment Ombudsman with BC Hockey, Vice Chair of the Canadian Sport Institute - Pacific, and as Deputy Chair of the Commonwealth Games Federation Ethics Commission. He was previously the Ombudsman at the International Organization for Migration in Geneva. He served as the Independent Mediator with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, based in The Hague. He was the inaugural CEO of InternetOmbudsman.biz. Frank was the inaugural Ombudsman at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Frank is a member of the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

ICANN is the agency which administers the global domain name system which serves as the backbone for the Internet. He served as the Ombudsman from November 2004 to January, 2011.
